De Spiraal manufactures also, whether or not in cooperation with her sister company, Tribelt BV, metal conveyor belts. A conveyor belt is a way to move products throughout the factory. It could also be possible that the conveyor belt is a part of a machine where a product is subjected to a process.
De Spiraal produces one type of metal conveyor belts, namely the so-called ladder belt. For comprehensive information about the opportunities concerning types of metal conveyor belts we refer you to the website of Tribelt BV.
Applications
When the process conditions are in such a state that the conveyor belt is no longer appropriate from synthetic material, one can choose for a metal conveyor belt. The reason for this could be the temperature, load (force), aggressiveness of the surrounding or because of ‘wear and tear’. One could also choose for a metal conveyor because of sustainability considerations.
The ladder belts produced by De Spiraal are predominantly used in the ‘’banquet & bakery’’ and in the meat processing sector.
Materials
Due to the application of ladder belts in the food industry, they are mainly made from Stainless Steel (1.4301/1.4310/1.4401/1.4404).
The belts are also produced from high carbon spring steel (for example high carbon spring steel).
Many other types of stainless steel and special alloys are mostly used in the case of other types of conveyor belts. The choice is always dependent on the application whereby both, the process and the products characteristics are of high influence. More information concerning the different materials of conveyor belts can be found on Tribelts website, on the page; Material choice.
Characteristics
A ladder belt is a positively driven belt. This means that the drive takes place by means of gear wheels and not by means of friction. The consequence is that the belt will not slip or expire. The condition is that the installation on which the belt is running is designed correctly. In case you want to share thoughts about this, we gladly answer you on the phone.
The ladder (parts) for a conveyor belt can actually be manufactured from every preferable wire thickness. It is however important to take into account the stability of the belt. The desired pitch, the width, the way of loading and the load are all of major importance concerning the stability of the belt in relation to the preferred wire thickness. The most common wire thicknesses are 4,0/5,0/5,25/6,0/8,0 mm.
In comparison with other belts, this belt type has a major advantage; hygiene. Since the ladder belt is very open, one can clean the belt very easily.
The most important turning points are however, the restricted opportunity of loading and a relatively small maximum width.
